In the next two articles, I\u2019ll take you to Lake Walchensee and Neuschwanstein Castle. If you haven\u2019t been to these places yet, you absolutely have to visit them! And if you already know them, then let me take you today on a little virtual journey to Lake Eibsee \u2013 a place often called the Bavarian Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When we want to escape Munich for the weekend and go for a walk in nature, there\u2019s no better destination than Lake Eibsee. First of all, it\u2019s not far from Munich \u2013 just about 100 km, along a beautiful country road. Second, the lake is surrounded by mountains and lies right at the foot of the Zugspitze \u2013 which, by the way, is a very special landmark. With its 2,962 meters, it\u2019s the highest mountain in Germany. And a trip here truly has everything you could wish for: a stunning turquoise lake, a majestic mountain that you can reach by cable car, and a beautiful hiking trail all around the lake. It\u2019s the perfect place to switch off from city life, slow down, and clear your mind. According to local newspapers, around 650,000 visitors come here every year. In autumn, however, it\u2019s much quieter \u2013 especially once most tourists have left after Oktoberfest. That\u2019s why my favorite time to visit Lake Eibsee is the last third of October. It\u2019s still warm, but not too busy. The sun sits lower, the light gets softer, and the trees turn golden and red. On clear days, the Zugspitze and the surrounding mountains are perfectly reflected on the lake\u2019s surface \u2013 it feels like standing inside a postcard. The water is so clear and calm that sometimes the reflection and the real image are hard to tell apart. There are plenty of small bays where you can step down to the water or just sit and take in the view. When fog rolls in, everything turns mystical and quiet, almost like a movie scene. And that\u2019s exactly what I love about this place: it has so many faces, and each one of them is special.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What I love most is to arrive and sit first on the terrace of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eibsee.de\/de\/eibsee-pavillon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Eibsee Pavilion restaurant<\/a>, enjoy the view of the lake \u2013 and of course, a slice of apple strudel with my coffee is a must! I\u2019ve done it myself \u2013 and I show it to you in my video as well. In the first part, you\u2019ll see Lake Eibsee in October, and halfway through \u2013 in April, when the lake was still completely frozen. It was an unforgettable experience! On one hand, it was a bit scary \u2013 standing right in the middle of the ice, knowing that there were about 35 meters of water below me, roughly the height of a twelve-story building. Just that thought was breathtaking! But the ice was thick enough, otherwise walking on it wouldn\u2019t be allowed. So I crossed the entire lake on foot. On the other hand, it was incredibly beautiful \u2013 from the middle, you could see the full mountain panorama, and the scenery looked completely different from how it does on land.
