Skincare & Haircare – My Beauty Favorites
Our skin and hair tell a lot about us – about our personality, our priorities, and how we see ourselves. To me, care means much more than just looking good. It’s a ritual, almost like meditation. This is how I can best switch off from all everyday worries – it’s my time, just for me. I also teach my daughter that it’s never too early to start caring for yourself.
Maybe some people manage with an all-in-one shampoo, but I need a lot of care, and it has to be of the highest quality. Cold in winter, heat in summer, and pollutants in the air take a toll on both skin and hair, which in turn affects our well-being. Today I’m showing you my beauty favorites that I keep repurchasing year after year – my absolute beauty must haves.

If someone asked me what I’d take with me to a deserted island, I could answer immediately: a large suitcase full of care products, my hair brushes, and every type of haircare – shampoos, masks, serums, and oils. On a deserted island I’d have plenty of time to pamper myself. When I travel, I bring my entire bathroom with me, and often my suitcase of clothes is much smaller than my beauty and care suitcase. I’ve even had funny conversations with friends about an adventure trip to Africa. The idea that others pack their backpacks with canned food and gear while I pack a suitcase full of care products was pretty amusing.
But even when I’m not venturing into the wilderness and only fly within Europe, I always worry at the airport that my suitcase might exceed the allowed weight – because it’s packed with all sorts of little bottles. And I always have to bring my huge, heavy hairdryer, even though I’ve never seen a hotel room without one – I just love my hairdryer. I prefer to take only a pair of shorts and a blouse so that I have enough space for my care products and beauty tools. Because I’m convinced that well-cared-for hair and beautiful skin are the best clothing!
MY BEAUTY FAVORITES: HAIRCARE
Let’s start with the hair. The best haircare line I’ve discovered so far has been, and remains, L’Occitane Aromachologie Repair. The shampoo gives the hair a special shine without weighing it down. I’ve tried many shampoos in the past, but the result was often the same: the silicones in them coat the hair instead of truly caring for it. In contrast, the Aromachologie Repair Shampoo intensely cares for the hair with five essential oils and vitamin B5. Since I love spending time in the South, my bleached hair is heavily exposed to the sun – a real test for haircare. When my hair, which usually feels like straw, becomes soft and shiny, I know the product is truly effective. After washing and before blow-drying, I massage L’Occitane’s Aromachologie Repair Hair Oil into my lengths, which makes my hair smooth and shiny. After blow-drying, I finish with a small amount of René Furterer’s Nourishing Karité Concentrate – perfect for extra care and shine.

SKINCARE – MY CARE ESSENTIALS
My daily skincare routine begins with Avène Thermal Water. After cleansing my face, I spray it on, let it work for one to two minutes, and then gently pat my face dry. The healing thermal water, with a pH of 7.4, is rich in trace elements, soothes redness, and protects against free radicals. And protection against free radicals means protection from premature aging – it’s far better not to age at all than to laboriously fight the signs of time later on.

Along with thermal water, my favorites include the Exquisâge Beauty Revealing Serum and Darphin’s Jasmine Oil, a Parisian skincare line I’ve loved for 15 years. What makes Darphin products special is their light consistency – they nourish the skin without weighing it down. Even sensitive skin with redness and irritation is perfectly cared for. I especially love the camellia face mask. After a tiring day, I apply it and, in just 15 minutes, I look as if I’ve just returned from vacation – an absolute care essential! Lips are very important too. My favorite product is L’Occitane’s Néroli & Orchidée Lip Balm – perfect as a base for lipstick or simply as a nourishing balm.

These beauty favorites are only a part of my skincare routine. Now you probably understand why my suitcase at the airport is often too heavy, right? Still, looking good isn’t just about the products. Equally important are a good mood, plenty of sleep, healthy eating, and the ability not to take life too seriously. 😊
