The Best Dress for Special Events | Hotel Grand Ferdinand

Lately, I’ve been traveling a lot. We’ve been on the road constantly, and I just couldn’t manage to travel and write blog posts at the same time. As soon as I returned home from one trip, I was already packing for the next one. I often edited my photos during breaks between breakfast and a new photoshoot, sometimes even late at night. I never imagined I’d be traveling so much! But now there’s a break — I’m back home in Munich, returning to my blog. And I’ll tell you where to find the best dress for special events, why Hotel Grand Ferdinand has become my absolute favorite hotel, and what an unforgettable experience I had at the Vienna State Opera.

This year, we’ve been to Lisbon twice, then Verona and Venice, and now Vienna. I had planned the trip to Vienna back in the winter — I received a special gift for Christmas: tickets to the Vienna Opera. And not just for any opera, but my favorite, La Traviata, featuring Plácido Domingo himself. I was so excited and could hardly wait! The mere thought of it thrilled me, and I was looking forward to finally wearing my most beautiful dresses — in Vienna, a city full of elegance, beautiful dresses are simply a must.

I started thinking about what to wear to the opera. I was warned that nowadays people go to the opera in T-shirts and jeans, not in dresses and tuxedos like they used to. Honestly, it made me sad that opera visits are no longer celebrated as they once were. But then my inner princess spoke up: “I am definitely not going to the opera in a T-shirt!” I told myself. A dress! I want a dress! And so, I started searching for the perfect one. As it often happens, purely by chance, I struck up a conversation with Claus Tyler, a fashion designer with Austrian roots, and he offered me one of his dresses for the opera. It was such a kind gesture, and I was so happy! I instantly fell in love with his dresses—they’re a mix of elegance and the style of the 1920s and 1930s, a time when precise cuts and feminine silhouettes were all the rage. I brought one of these dresses, made from draped red satin, home with me, tried it on, and was already convinced that the visit to the Vienna Opera would be unforgettable, thanks to this dress alone.

And that’s exactly how it was: not only did the dress make our weekend trip to Vienna unforgettable. La Traviata, which I adore — when I’ve had enough of Drake and A$AP Rocky, I enjoy listening to classical music, jazz, or opera. Alongside Tosca and Norma, La Traviata is my absolute favorite. Experiencing it live at the Vienna State Opera moved me to tears. As soon as the prelude began, I couldn’t hold back the tears. No matter how silly it sounds, that’s how it was. Some moments are so beautiful that you feel completely overwhelmed by them, and that’s actually the most wonderful thing that can happen to us: emotions.

However, I was quite surprised to find out how windy Vienna is. Even in Munich, where we’re used to constant weather changes, it’s never been this windy. In Vienna, my hair was constantly blowing around my head, my eyes were tearing up — it can really drive a woman crazy after a while. In that sense, I wasn’t just emotionally “blown away” after the opera, but literally as well. Yet, the sum of wonderful experiences in Vienna far outshone the wind.

HOTEL GRAND FERDINAND: THE FINEST BREAKFAST WITH A VIEW OVER VIENNA’S ROOFTOPS

But that wasn’t the only highlight: Hotel Grand Ferdinand truly crowned our Vienna experience. Stylishly designed suites, a reception area that could go down in history as a model of interior design, first-class service, and the feeling of being at home even though it’s a hotel. And here’s the best part: breakfast with the most beautiful view over the city’s rooftops.

The weekend was so intense that I was happy to be back in my familiar surroundings at home in Munich. After such eventful and beautiful trips, I always need a few days to let everything sink in. Do you feel the same? But one thing is certain — I already know what I want to experience next: Teatro Massimo in Sicily.
